Adlib have completed the installation of a sound and media system at All Saints Church in Liverpool.

All Saints is a Church of England place of worship, tall in stature with a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The church recently decided to upgrade it’s sound and visual system to augment the range of services and events held, as well as falling in line with contemporary disability requirements.
Adlib have been involved with installations of a wide variety, in particular places of worship. Over the years, the company has built up an appreciation of the requirements needed, particularly when working with unique architecture and the necessity for custom manufacturing solutions.
Sound System
The layout of the building was quite unique, with seating and chancel offset by the beautiful stained glass windows. With the acoustics of the space changing considerably between seating zones, it was necessary to consider the amount of coverage required for each. With a broad range of speakers to choose from, Adlib’s custom loudspeakers were the ideal solution. The main selling feature of the box was the customisation. The boxes could be adapted for any orientation and bracketry, as well as offering bespoke aesthetic finishes.
At the heart of the system, 2 x AA121 Loudspeakers were chosen as the main dispersal for mid-high frequencies with 2 x AA15HL6 subwoofers handling the bass frequencies. As a custom feature, Adlib installed 2 x AA281 array boxes in an open section above the chancel to handle long range projection and coverage. The peripheral areas were suitably augmented using the popular AA61 and AA81 loudspeakers. With the introduction of any new sound system, the change in acoustics and increased volume can be slightly disorientating without a proper monitoring solution. Adlib’s AA121W were the ideal choice offering focused projection and clear, detailed mid-high frequencies.
Amplification and Control
To power the system loudspeakers and monitors, Shure’s QSC amplifier range was implemented. The RMX series of amplifiers are robust and clean with plenty of headroom to handle high output.

To handle such a varied system layout, only a BSS Soundweb would offer the right balance between quality processing and versatility. With 8 inputs and 8 outputs, the 3088 lite provides enough flexibility to process live performance, CD/Tape players, PC playback with 2 spare channels for future expansion.
For live musical and dramatic performances, a Soundcraft FX16 mixer, along with a range of Shure, Sennheiser and AKG microphones, EMO direct boxes and K&M stands.
Audio-Visual
One of the key features of the church is the pipe organ, which is visually inaccessible to the majority of the congregation. The church required augmentation of existing equipment to assist in providing visual access to such areas. With projectors and screens already in place, the system highlighted the need for expansion and customisation.

Remote controlled Denard D2040 cameras were installed to capture and display service performances by the church organist. Along with the cameras, a Samsung Viualiser was incorporated, along with DVD playback and recording. The cameras, visualise and dvd options were a perfect compliment to the audio system, offering the church visual media to promote and distribute among attendees with very quick turnaround.
At the control end of the install, all cameras provided remote telemetric control to ensure optimum positioning and control. Three Kramer VP413 scalers and a VP64ETH switcher were included to provide transparent processing and routing.
To bring the services and events to life, two bespoke Taga electric screens, along with three Sharp LC216 26” LCD displays, were incorporated into various sections of the building. The screens offered a discreet, retractable solution, along with displays that offered a nice balance between clarity and scale.
