Adlib Solutions in conjunction with sister company Adlib Lighting has supplied a new, specially climatised sound and lighting system to the famous Sefton Palm House in Sefton Park Liverpool's best known area of green.

The magnificent Palm House, originally completed in 1896 has been the subject of a high profile £2.5 million restoration project managed by Sefton Park Palm House Preservation Trust and Liverpool City Council stretching over the last decade. It was eventually completed in 2001.
ADLIB initially quoted for the sound and lighting installation over four years ago, well before the restoration project was finished. However it was only after the Palm House itself was re-opened that plans for creating the technical infrastructure came to the forefront of the agenda. The project was overseen for ADLIB Sales by Ken Dockerty. The brief required a versatile, partly-portable 'function' system to deal with performances, events, parties, concerts, etc., happening on the Palm House stage below, for both its public events and private hires.
ADLIB's speaker manufacturing department leapt into action, designing and building special ADLIB AA 151 Series speakers for the venue. These are painted white to match the Palm House's metalwork and flown in its roof dome. The internal components are treated with a water resistant substance to help them cope with the humid and temperate climate resident inside the House. This is needed to preserve the fabulous foliage that features several thousand plant species and samples.

The AA 15 HL bass speakers and the control rack, are on wheels and live on the Palm House floor, near the stage for positioning where and when needed according to the function. The control rack includes QSC amplification, dbx system processing and a Soundcraft Folio desk.
ADLITE designed and installed the lighting system, consisting of 4 bars of James Thomas weatherised PAR 64 lanterns, flown around the rim of the eye-catching Palm House Dome. These are also all painted white. The lighting desk is an ANYtronics Mini 6, and the dimmers are also ANYtronics.
In addition to the production sound system, ADLIB Audio also helped devise and is about to install a custom version of the Werth Star Sound 600 IR system for the hard of hearing. Users have the option of either wearing a neck noose with a small clip on ear piece or headphones.
