Adlib were called in by St. Andrew’s Church to equip and install the main hall with a full audio and visual solution.
St.Andrew’s Church in Liverpool is a popular place of worship offering a contemporary outlook on Christian life, all within a welcoming, informal and relaxed atmosphere. St. Andrew’s wanted to develop upon existing facilities by bringing their church and activities to a wider audience. It was the intention of the Church to make sermons and events accessible through portable media and the internet.
However, to achieve this, a dedicated sound and visual system was required to enhance the atmosphere within the main hall. Adlib stepped in to provide the right solution.
The Sound System

One of the biggest problems when with putting together a system is finding the right solution for the acoustic space. The scale and dimensions of the room in relation to the size of speaker play a big part in achieving the right power and projection across the space.
To combat the acoustics of the room, Adlib chose to use their custom series of full range loudspeakers. 4 x AA121i loudspeakers and 2 x AA18HL6 sub bass enclosures were installed offering 300W and 600W of power respectively. The speaker size and power ratio were the perfect complement to the hall, providing a complimentary amount of high end detail and low end punch.
The stage required a subtle monitor system, one with a small footprint that wouldn’t compromise quality and performance. 4 x AA81W wedge monitors were installed to provide suitable foldback, offering the right frequency range for the performance space.
Amplification and Processing
To satisfy the power requirements of the system, Shure’s QSC range of amplifiers were chosen. With a robust power section, clean channels and plenty of head room, the RMX series was the perfect partner to the Adlib range.
The system requirements were relatively straightforward in terms of processing and the DBX driverack 260 was very capable of handling the job. With six independant outputs, it offers independant E.Q. and delay to each speaker, ensuring the correct balance and synchronicity at each point in the room.
System Control

FOH provided the base for all system operations with an Allen and Heath GL2400, as the heart of the system. Additional system playback and monitor processing was handled by dBx 231 graphics, Behringer multicom compressors and Tasmcam/Sony CD players.
Visual Solutions
The church required a visual element to their system, to assist with hymns, services and playback. With the length of the hall, a subtle touch was required. A Sanyo XT25 4500 projector was installed to the rear of the main hall for discretion, along with a LNS-T10 semi long throw lens to combat the distant factor.
At the front of the hall, a custom solution was required for the projection screen. A custom rigging solution was installed in the roof, allowing the screen to be lowered during use and retracted, leaving no interference to the window.
To ensure ease of control and projection, a Kramer VP4x4 matrix and VP413 VGA scaler were incorporated into the set-up to allowing connection and switching between 4 input sources and correct visual image scaling, all from the front of house position.
